As soon as you leave the main road and enter the Quinta do Rio Cavalos (Farm of the River Cavalos) you’ll feel the vibrant life of nature all around you: the scents in the air change and it’s as if it was possible to smell the fertility of the land and tell apart the different scents of all the plants around.


And when we stop...  there it is the sound of the water, the music of the river Cavalos falling as a waterfall from the old dam of the water mill and meandering around the rocks, marking the natural limit of about one third of the Quinta (the second limit is a road and the third and smaller one is a line dividing this one from another farm with similar characteristics).


A DREAM FOR GROWNUPS, MAGICAL FOR CHILDREN

We had many picnics with the family while we mentally chose the location to build and leisurely ate wild blackberries and delicious apples, small and wild, that a very hardy apple tree insists in giving who knows how many years after the old orchard having been abandoned.


We cut away around here and there to find lovely spots and many areas that the fertile land and 25 years without man turned into the traditional portuguese forest of oaks, pine trees, sobreiros, medronheiros, choupos and more.  We found the best place to take a bath in the river, the best place to hang an hammock between two trees to read or take a nap in a hot Summer afternoon...


Even though we never actually lived in the farm, the memories of the many great moments we had there are now part of our family...  It’s not without regret that we sell this small Paradise but we know that whoever buys the Quinta will have many more unforgetable moments!
